  • KARLSON - an extraordinary gastronomic and cultural concept located in one of Darmstadt's most important historical sites: the listed Fürstenbahnhof railway station.

The KARLSON combines two exclusive locations under one roof and invites guests from Darmstadt as well as visitors from outside to experience the city's history in a new way:

    1. the KARLSON restaurant - with direct access to the spacious 1,000 m² terrace on the former private Fürstenplatz, surrounded by mighty chestnut trees, the historic Fürstenbrunnen fountain and sunny green spaces. It also includes the original Fürstenzimmer, which is now part of the restaurant. This is where modern German cuisine, sophisticated drinks, café culture and wine enjoyment meet an architectural monument that not only breathes history, but brings it to life.

    2. the Fürstensaal am Gleis 1 - accessible via the restaurant, an imposing room with 4.5 metre high ceilings and an area of around 100 m², now used as an independent event location. The Grand Duke once waited here for his train to Paris - today the hall serves as a stage for exclusive events, intimate concerts, company celebrations and cultural formats with an unrivalled character.

The location directly at Darmstadt's main railway station - barrier-free access via platform 1 - makes the KARLSON an attractive hub for city visitors, commuters, tourists and Darmstadt residents alike, not only in culinary terms but also in terms of infrastructure.

Whether brunch, modern German dining, bar, wine lounge, café, beer garden (i.e. gastro) or event location: the KARLSON combines historical authenticity with modern, sustainable enjoyment - vegetarian, vegan, organic, regional.

Innovative dishes such as the specially developed ‘Flazza’ (a fusion of tarte flambée and pizza) also reflect the creative approach. The day-drinking formats, culinary summer terraces and the neighbouring ice cream café with unusual flavours make the KARLSON a place for all the senses.

KARLSON stands for GERMAN FOOD CULTURE - interpreted in a modern way and deeply rooted in the city.
