During the first weeks of the Hessian summer vacation, a special attraction for families returns to downtown Darmstadt: the Darmstadt Water Playground. Every day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., buckets, water basins, and channels in the Carree (the plaza in front of Centralstation) invite children to play.

Whether pumping new water, redistributing it with buckets, or sailing their own boats—the water playground offers younger children up to age 10, in particular, the opportunity to do so.

The adjacent outdoor dining area and free seating round out the experience. “With this water playground, which will run for several weeks, we once again want to create a targeted offering for families during the summer months,” said City Marketing Chairman Dr. Moritz Koch. The event is presented by Volksbank Kinderzeit, a program of Volksbank Darmstadt Mainz. “We’re happy to support the water playground as an attractive destination for families,” says Stefan Krüger, Volksbank’s representative for social engagement.

The Wasserspielmobil© is a mobile water playground—originally developed, manufactured, and distributed by a company in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The Wasserspielmobil© is design-protected, TÜV-certified, and has been in use for many years in both daycare centers and at events. The water playground is an initiative of Darmstadt Citymarketing e.V. and is presented by Volksbank Darmstadt Mainz with support from Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt Marketing GmbH, the Carree Advertising Association, and media partner FRATZ—the family magazine.
