Christmas time in Darmstadt
From end of November to 23. December, Darmstadt every year offers the best in culinary delights, Christmas shopping and a festive atmosphere!
Culinary and handicraft specialities invite you to pre-Christmas hustle and bustle at Darmstadt's Christmas market. The adventually decorated city centre and the Christmas trees on Marktplatz, Luisenplatz and Ludwigsplatz create a Christmas atmosphere.
The special highlight every year are the stalls from Darmstadt's twin towns. Whether handicrafts or culinary specialities such as Hungarian lángos or wine and cheese from Saanen (Switzerland) - the twin towns are eagerly awaited by Darmstadt residents and visitors alike every year.
Darmstadt, simply amazing.
The Lange Ludwig lights up with 30,000 LEDs, the Christmas tree on the market square shows a light animation every hour from 6 pm and a historic horse-drawn carousel turns on the Friedensplatz. You can find out more about the stalls and Christmas highlights further down the page.

Did you know...
...that Darmstadt has a "Glühweinprinzessin" (mulled wine princess)? She is elected every year since 2011 and, among other things, presents the new motif of the mulled wine glasses at the opening of the Darmstadt Christmas Market. Have a look at the "Glühweinprinzessinnen" of the past years here.
