»With Beauty Something Is Always At Stake« - 15. bis 20. Juli
The current exhibition at the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt "Candida Höfer. Photographs" has prompted Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences to initiate a semester-long student project.
The final exhibition from 15 July 2025 to 20 July 2025 at CityLab Darmstadt ‘With Beauty Something Is Always At Stake’ brings together seven photographic positions by students of the Mathildenhöhe Design/Photography Department. In dialogue with Candida Höfer's exhibition, they each develop a very individual language of observation, analysis and interpretation.
The works range from architectures of transition and fragmented body landscapes to surreally charged, retro-futuristic scenarios. Direct images that move between chromatic dream logic and harsh reality. A demolished club toilet becomes a sculptural archive of urban night culture and everyday life and imagination merge in lyrical image sequences.
The exhibition asks what becomes visible when orders are shaken, when visual axes shift and photography becomes more than an index: a place of questioning, irritation and disturbance.
