Experience hands-on science at interactive stations in SCIENCE POP-UP, discover the smallest building blocks of the universe and take a look into the future of research with FAIR. Whether atomic nuclei, particle accelerators or cosmic processes – go particle hunting yourself and explore the universe with us in the laboratory.

Workshops

For interested small groups, we also offer various workshops on different topics from the STEM field (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) at SCIENCE POP-UP.

Student Laboratory

With the Student Laboratory, GSI and FAIR also offer a programme for entire upper secondary school classes at SCIENCE POP-UP: How does radiation affect our genetic material and how can this effect be used specifically for tumour therapy? In this interdisciplinary experiment, upper secondary school students learn how ionising radiation can damage DNA – and how such changes can be visualised and analysed in the laboratory using gel electrophoresis.
