The Heimatverein Darmstädter Heiner e.V. organises the Darmstädter Heinerfest, which has been taking place since 1951 always on the first weekend in July. The Heinerfest is one of the largest inner-city festivals in Germany and offers a diverse programme and attractions for the whole family in the inner city around the castle.
