Frankfurt Rhine-Main

Frankfurt Rhine-Main is the culturally and economically vibrant region in the heart of Europe. Vineyards, the slopes of the Taunus or amusement parks: if you only think of the airport and the metropolis when you think of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Region, you're missing out. Numerous mosaic stones, small and larger towns, magnificent landscapes - the "smallest metropolis in the world", as the people of Frankfurt affectionately call their city, has a very special charm. The overview map clearly shows the region's dimensions and the cultural and geological spaces it encompasses.

The Bergstrasse

The Bergstrasse leads from Darmstadt to Heidelberg. Emperor Joseph II is said to have exclaimed about the wine region during a visit to the Bergstrasse in the spring of 1764: "This is where Germany begins to become Italy". The many hours of sunshine allow an almost Mediterranean experience of regional specialities, e.g. the Red Riesling. In addition to culinary delights, culture can also be experienced here in a lively way; the region includes around 30 castles and palaces, a large selection of museums and two UNESCO World Heritage Sites!

The region Bergstrasse-Odenwald

The Odenwald is a low mountain range in Hesse that is just as inviting for sports as it is for cultural and natural experiences. In addition to hiking and cycling trails, there are castles, historic old towns and hidden farms. Here you can experience history at first hand - for example at the Limes, an exciting remnant from Roman times. Between the winding alleys, the lovingly restored half-timbered houses and in the parks and castles of the region, today and yesterday charmingly meet.

Bergstrasse-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park

Between the Rhine, Main and Neckar rivers, a vast landscape with diverse nature and geology worthy of protection extends over more than 3,500 km²: the area of the Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald e.V. The park was included in the UNESCO "International Geoscience & Geoparks Programme" in 2015 and thus bears the designation "UNESCO Global Geopark". Education and information are a central task of the Geopark. With the Geo-Nature Park App, you have your personal guide with all the important information about the Bergstrasse-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park with you at all times. Click here for the app.
