Whether tame and prancing, wild or dangerous - animals have been a recurring motif of artistic creation for millennia. On the occasion of the 300th birthday of Prince Georg Wilhelm of Hesse Darmstadt (1722-1782), the Grand Ducal Hessian Porcelain Collection brings together all the creatures of land and sea, forest and garden, stable and zoo. Monkeys, lions and elephants, dogs, birds and insects - the selection is extremely diverse and testifies to the inexhaustible imagination of the ceramists of the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries.
