With numerous concerts at the most beautiful baroque locations in Darmstadt, the Baroque Festival Darmstadt 2023 celebrates the rich musical tradition of the former landgraviate, which with one of the most important court orchestras in the German-speaking world shaped the musical landscape beyond the region. The festival brings together the current Darmstadt music scene, renowned performers in the field of historically informed performance practice, orchestras of the State Theater and international guests of "early music" in a baroque ambience - the city becomes the venue. The musical program pays tribute to Darmstadt greats such as Christoph Graupner and follows the traces of their networking to Italy, France, Spain and the Middle East.
