Darmstadt applies for the UNESCO recognition of Mathildenhöhe as a "World Heritage". This emphasis the importance of comprehensive construction measures throughout the grounds and in the buildings of the Mathildenhöhe. With regard to the situation of the construction site and with regard to the plane tree grove, for which a redevelopment concept is to be worked out, the City of Darmstadt and Darmstadt Marketing GmbH have decided to suspend two major cultural events on Mathildenhöhe for 2018. This concerns "Darmstadt Days Art Nouveau" and the music festival "Fête de la Musique".
